Lent 2021: Day 19 – About God’s Laws (Some Favorite Verses)

1. O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever! Deut.5:29
2. Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently. O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes! Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments. Ps. 119:5-6
3. I have declared my ways, and thou heardest me: teach me thy statutes.  Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of thy wondrous works. Ps.119 26-27
4. It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.  Let my heart be sound in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed.  Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction. Ps. 119: 71,80, 92
5. Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts. Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way. Ps. 119: 98-100, 104.
6. I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes always, even unto the end. I hate vain thoughts: but thy law do I love. Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word. Depart from me, ye evildoers: for I will keep the commandments of my God. Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope. Deal with thy servant according unto thy mercy, and teach me thy statutes. Ps. 119: 112-116, 124
7. The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple. Deliver me from the oppression of man: so will I keep thy precepts. Make thy face to shine upon thy servant; and teach me thy statutes. Ps. 119: 130, 134, 135.
8. Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them. Ps. 119:165

May God give us a heart of submission that yearns to obey His laws with devotion.’Observe them carefully, for thus will you give evidence of your wisdom and intelligence to the nations, who will hear of all these statutes and say, This great nation is truly a wise and intelligent people.’ – Deut. 4:6. It is by obedience to God’s laws that we show reverence for Him, and that reverence imparts a much-coveted wisdom. ‘The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.’ – Proverbs 9:10
