Appropriating the Protective Promises of Psalm 91 in Faith.

As we commiserate with the people of Sri Lanka and indeed all persecuted Christians, we call to mind this encouraging prayer of God’s veto power over all types of adversarial situations. God still sits on His Throne in heaven, and the whole world is still His footstool. We will magnify Him and our faith in Him, and refuse to magnify our fears. Let us constantly pray this powerful psalm for ourselves, our families and loved ones. http://biblehub.com/akjv/psalms/91.htm

Most High God, I come to your Throne of Mercy in the name of Jesus to declare that since my family and I have made our dwelling in your secret place by continual fellowship with you in communion with your Son; since we walk so closely with you; your almighty shadow falls upon us and we abide safely under that protective shade. Thus, we can confidently say: You, Jehovah, are our strong refuge and our impenetrable fortress; You are our God, and we choose to trust in you.

Surely because nothing is hidden from your searching eyes, you shall deliver us from the secret snare of the fowler; and because of your power over any source of harm, you shall deliver us from the noisome pestilence.  Your unfailing love causes you to cover us with your feathers, and under your healing wings do we rest securely. Your faithfulness to your truth shall be our shield and buckler, and we will use your Word as a mighty sword for cutting down the lies and vows of the enemy in our lives. Amen.

All-powerful Father, we affirm that there is no fashioned weapon that can prosper against your shadow or your wings. When  your children are securely tucked under Your wings, we are hidden from the evil one and therefore shall not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flies by day; Nor for the pestilence that walks in darkness; nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday.

The extra-ordinary peace that Jesus has gifted us gives us serenity. The assurance that you work out all things for the good of our souls and the glory of your name enables us to live above the fears and calamities of our circumstances.  In these dangerous times, even if a thousand shall fall at our side, and ten thousand at our right hand; we will be divinely protected because we chose to dwell in you. When we look around us, we will observe how you reward the ungodly who refuse your mercy.

Most High God, your name is a strong tower, and in you, we live, move and have our being. Because we have made you our refuge and our habitation;  afflictions may occur but no evil shall befall us, neither shall any plague come near our dwelling in you. We trust you to faithfully keep your word to deliver us from every distress and overrule every adverse situation for good.

Father, we acknowledge you in all our ways and trust that you are directing our paths, you will be with us when we walk under your guidance. Thank you for giving your holy angels charge over us, to keep us in our ways. Life is not always a smooth road, but they shall bear us up in their hands, lest we dash our feet against any stones thrown in our paths by the enemy. Their vigilance will keep us from stumbling from errors and prevent us from inclining towards evil . By the victory that Jesus won for us on the Cross, we shall overcome foes as furious as lions and cunning as adders; By the authority that Jesus gave us for His ministry, we shall trample upon His enemies, visible and invisible.

Our Benevolent Father,  we are reassured by Your  faithfulness to your promises when You say: Because he has set his love on me – you are not expecting me to be perfect before I can experience the power of your words. Your qualifying condition is that I trust in Jesus as I set my heart on you, resting in your love and hoping in you for all my needs.

therefore will I deliver him: Thank you Father, for always delivering the righteous from their many afflictions. Through our righteousness in Jesus,  we are grateful that all things will always work out for good in the lives of those of us who love you.

I will set him on high, because he has known my name. Thank you Father, that we can rely on your name as a Strong Tower. Thank you for revealing your character to us in your word and for glorifying Your name in our lives. Thank you for lifting our feet out of the deep, miry clay and setting them on a high, solid rock. We keep in mind that You do all things for Your own glory and never ours.

He shall call on me, and I will answer him: Thank you Father, for  the reassurance that you always hear  and answer us when we call on you. Your answers may not always be what we are expecting, but we trust your plans for us more than our own plans. We trust that they will give us an expected end and be good for our souls.

I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him. Thank you Jesus, for giving us Your own personal peace when You warned that we will have troubles in this world, but should remain in good cheer because You have overcome the world and You remain in us. Thank you Father, that when we are in trouble, you will personally take over from the angels charged with watching us and bring us into your safe arms.

With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation. Thank you Father for length of days in this world and the promise of everlasting life based upon salvation. Thank you for loving the world so much that You gave us Jesus, so that those of us who believe in Him, shall never really perish but have eternal life.

Thank You Father, for all these promises of trust contained in Psalm 91. May they all be done unto us according to Your Word. Amen in the mighty name of our Savior, Jesus.
