Lent Day 37: The Crown without The Cross – The Prosperity Gospel Myth

We approach the commemoration of the central tenet of our Christian faith over the next several days. We will read more about the Passion of Jesus, the gory details of what He went through for our sakes. All well and good, and it brings one to think about the views on suffering in modern-day Christianity. This could be suffering for Christ as in persecuted Christians or suffering as a tool for God to work His way in us and mould us to His likeness or cause us to return to Him like prodigal children. But we live in a world where suffering in anyway is not easily accepted as one of the preferred processes of God.
