We often talk about repenting and asking God for forgiveness especially during this season of Lent. I think we should be using the word – forsaking- more commonly.
I believe we should think strategically about how we will avoid/eliminate the sources of particular sins from our lives even before we turn to God for pardon. That way, we are asking God to forgive the committed sins and because He discerns our hearts, He sees that we have a somewhat rudimentary plan in place for not committing said sins again.
This will be sincerity in action and it shows that we have no intention of taking God’s unlimited mercy for granted and no desire to commit those sins again. I know God will always delight in our efforts and desire to turn away from sin and will send us His Spirit to crown our efforts with success.
