I think the problem we Christians face a lot is living the different components of our lives in silos. Do we train our thoughts to keep Jesus in the forefront in the middle of a business discussion or when we are relaxing or exercising? Or do we restrict thinking about Jesus to when we are praying and worshipping, however frequent that is?
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. – Colossians 3:17
Think about that, EVERYTHING. The new living translation says to do everything as a Representative of Jesus. It sounds like a tall bar but it begins with the desire to obey the rule. I believe from experience that when we voluntarily inform God of our desire to obey a particular rule, He cooperates with us by enabling us with the grace to do so. He covers for us, when we fall short of the rule because He sees our hearts and desire.
EVERYTHING. Add that to this one: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Phillipians 4:13. We have – doing everything in His name and by His strength – for His father’s glory, just as He did. That is how we are known as His followers. May the Holy Spirit incline us to yielding totally to Jesus in every area of our lives.
