Lent Day 6: Life As a Rehearsal for Heaven

• The Father designed and provided the heavenly kingdom for His saints from the beginning of time by His power. He continues to prepare it for that day when He will welcome all who are co-heirs with His Son; those who have accepted His offer of salvation and demonstrated their love for Jesus by obeying His commandments.

 

• The Son purchased the Kingdom for us by His Blood and is now in heaven seated at the right hand of the Father, awaiting we His co-heirs/adopted brothers and sisters. He intercedes for us daily and pleads our petitions before His Father. Likewise He pleads with us to obey His teachings of love and mercy and persevere in that obedience so that we can receive what He has already won for us on that last day when He will act as Judge, separating the wheat from the chaff, and surprising some of those who followed Him in word but not in actions.

 

• The Spirit was sent to us by the Son to prepare us for life in the Kingdom by helping us to rehearse how to live in the Kingdom, here on earth. Designated as our Helper,  Jesus knew we could never obey His teachings by ourselves as our flesh is instinctively opposed to everything He taught us and asks of us. He sent the Helper to teach us, remind us and infuse us with graces that will help us live holy lives  here on earth, characterized by the kind of love and charity that He demands as evidence of our love for Him.

Life as we know it here is just a rehearsal for the Kingdom that has been prepared for those who are blessed of the Father. May we learn to ask for and utilize all the graces that the Holy Spirit has in store for us to rehearse well and live faithfully with our eyes on the goal of eternal life.

….Thy Kingdom Come, Thine will be done on earth as it is in heaven…..
