My Father in heaven,
Today I come in the name of Jesus to thank you specially for the precious gifts of life that you entrusted me to bring into this world. From their pregnancies, through their births, until this day, you have remained faithful in your care and preservation of these children. You have given me the grace and used me to guide them right and teach them what cannot be taught in educational buildings. To You alone be all the honor, praise and glory for where they are coming from, where they are now, and where their future takes them. I trust that You are more than able to go on preserving them, as You have always done. Thank You for giving Your angels charge over them to keep them from tripping on the many stones that life throws at them.
I also come to ask You for even more grace, for You have made it clear to me that I need to put the same zeal, (or even more), that I have put into steering them towards their educational accomplishments, into steering them on their paths to heaven at the end of their journeys in life. I cannot be content with diplomas and success, I am obliged to do all in my power to pass my faith down to my children. These are challenging times to raise children, the forces opposing Your plan for young soldiers of Christ are enormous. The only hope we have is the victory of Your Son at Calvary over every type of opposition, known and unknown, and the outpouring of grace that victory enables.
Therefore Father, turn Your eyes of mercy towards me at Your Throne of Grace, and give me the knowledge, understanding and wisdom I need to make my children Your disciples. Help me to understand that The Great Commission to go make disciples all over the world, starts in my own backyard, with the lives I brought into this world by Your grace. Help me to keep in mind, that only a disciple can make more disciples, so I am to be the example of the faith that I want them to live. I know I will have to answer to You on how much effort I put into this life-long mission of making disciples, especially of the lives You entrusted to me. Help me Lord, I can’t do this without Your strength, please help me today as I consecrate my children to You once again.
Finally Lord, on this day dedicated to motherhood, I ask in the name of Jesus for answers of peace, hope and favor for those women who are seeking the privilege of motherhood; those mothers seeking your grace in bringing their children back into Your fold; those mothers who wear the hats of mother and father; those mothers who are looking after sick children; those mothers who have lost their children and all mothers who daily entrust their children to Your care. In Your mercy, please hear and answer the cries of all our hearts and glorify Your name in every situation. Amen.
