This Journey called Life…….

This Journey called Life:
From the moment we are born, we are on a journey back to our Maker at a time of His pleasing. God gave us life at His own pleasure and for His own pleasure and glory. Our lives are not ours, neither is the time He has blessed us with on the journey. Our purpose while here is to do all things in concert with His Spirit  so that He will welcome us back to Himself while being pleased with us.
God’s Holy Spirit is our instruction manual for the life he created or manufactured in us; or you can consider it our GPS for the journey He has arranged for us on earth as we return to Him. Let’s learn to do ALL things with the help of the Holy Spirit. We can’t go wrong when we do that…even our challenges will be ordained from God for our own eventual good.
In a strange sense, you might say God is the ultimate control freak, wanting to be a part of ALL our decisions, thoughts and actions, but He won’t force our hands. He wants us to have that deep level of relationship with Him of our own free will. This is not even about just  being a “born-again” Christian because there are many good, born-again  and devout Christians from all doctrines who do not have that intimacy with the Spirit. Or at least their lives do not reflect that level of intimacy.
The beauty of it is that once we begin to involve the Holy Spirit in the way we live 24/7, we experience an unexplainable freedom, confidence and peace that allows us to soar above circumstances, in addition to a sage level of wisdom, depth and understanding. After all, we are talking about Godly wisdom here, which scripture says makes human wisdom look foolish.
But when we don’t do EVERYTHING with Him, He considers us to be proud for doing things without Him and He keeps His distance from proud people who think they can go on the life journey He created for them (and which only He knows how that journey will flow and ebb) in their own wisdom and knowledge. Ps. 138:6 – He knows the proud from afar…1 Peter 5:5 – He opposes the proud…2 Samuel 22:28 – His eyes are on the haughty to bring them low…too many references to include here.
They don’t get the best of Him and depending on how much He wants their attention, God may allow them to go through circumstances where nothing or no one they can access in this world can help; and only His mighty hand can deliver them.
But when we do ALL things with God, the challenges He allows us to go through become opportunities for Him to gladly manifest His power. And things will always ultimately work out for good for us and unto His glory.
It’s a new day. Still a new month and a new year. In this season of resolutions, let us make a vow this year, that every morning we are privileged to get a new day from our Creator, we will deliberately cultivate a deeper relationship with God’s Holy Spirit. We are talking about a BFF level of friendship here!
Doing things with the Holy Spirit is as easy as asking God to give us His Spirit or send the Spirit to help us in a single sentence not just upon the blessing of waking up in the morning but several times throughout the day. It is the one request He has promised He will NEVER deny us.
‘If you know how to give your children good things, how much more will your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him’ (Luke 11:13).
It is simple. We ASK for the Holy Spirit’s help at every chance we get, we RECEIVE the Holy Spirit. Over and over and over, because our human nature is always at odds with the Spirit…..one on one with God and in the name of His Son Jesus, we don’t need any special man or woman of God to help us in this request or to figure this one out for us. We SEEK the Holy Spirit and we will FIND the Spirit gladly waiting for us.
Then we gradually cede total control of our thoughts, decision-making processes, actions and reactions to the Spirit. Especially those reactions, it is not humanly possible to avoid being mad at some types of provocations, but under the control of God’s Spirit, it becomes a breeze.  We even begin to take better care of our bodies, be cause we have a deeper understanding of how they are the Temple of God’s Spirit.
As people begin to note that there is something special, something different, about that particular Christian, we begin to witness to Christ by our actions and will only need to use words when necessary as proposed by the wise Saint Augustine. We will then be praising God not just with our mouths but with our lives as well. Only then can we be more confident that at the end of this journey called life, we shall be welcomed with – ‘This is my beloved daughter/son, in whom I am well pleased.”
