My Faith Mantra

Hebrews chapter 11 provides a historical and beautiful treatise on faith. Here is my twenty-point creed of faith based on these words.

Faith: My Confident Assurance that What I Hope for Will Happen

Fixing my eyes on Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of my Faith, I believe that FAITH:

1. Helps me to understand that creation is the work of God. V.3
2. Enables me to inherit the righteousness that comes through it. V.4,7.
3. Helps me to launch into uncertain territory whenever I am so led. V.8
4. Can produce a new thing in me even if I did not previously have the ability or means. V.11
5. Makes me become more aware of my heavenly home and increasingly see myself as an alien on this earth. V.13-14
6. Helps me to give up people/things that mean a lot to me if God asks me to do so; I am able to pass the test because I trust in the God who blessed me with said people/things in the first place; I focus on the fact that God can always give me back whatever I give up for His sake (and much more!!). V.17,19.
7. Can make me confidently speak about things that will happen in the future based on God’s Promises to me, and give personal instructions about that future. V.22
8. Helps me to make difficult choices and bear hardships with my focus on a reward from Christ. V.24-26
9. Helps me to set out in confidence on a path that opens for me in the middle of wild turbulence on the left and the right. V.29
10. Helps me to obey instructions from the Holy Spirit even when they do not seem related to my desired outcomes. V.30
11. Helps me to conquer kingdoms and unknown territories. V.33
12. Helps me to do what is righteous. V.33
13. Helps me to obtain the promises (of Abraham, of The Word of God). V.33
14. Helps me to close the mouth of lions seeking to devour me and mine. V.33
15. Helps me to put out raging fires in my life and the lives of my loved ones. V.34
16. Helps me to escape the devouring sword. V.34
17. Makes me powerful when I am weak. V.34
18. Helps me to become strong in any battle I face. V.34
19. Helps me to turn back foreign invaders (especially in the spiritual realm). V.34
20. Can resurrect dead circumstances. V.35

Finally, I acknowledge and believe that “Without Faith, it is impossible to please God” (Hebrews 11:6). I will therefore keep on striving and keep on trying and I know the Holy Spirit, the Helper will always be there for me.

This mantra of faith is for all who believe in Jesus Christ. I urge you to please adopt it and begin to believe in things yet unseen, leaving the timing of the manifestations to the God who sees, hears and knows everything in our past, present and future; the God whose will for our lives is always better than any plan we can come up with on our own.

I could be the best strategic planner in the world, but I cannot see into the future definitively, I can only project. God on the other hand not only sees the future, He plans it and holds it in His hands. I would be foolish to know Him and not hitch my bike to His wagon for His will to be done in my life……
